5 things to remember when installing a pump

There’s plenty to consider when carrying out a pump installation, so we’ve gathered five of the most important in this quick guide.

  • Locate the pump as close to the liquid source as you can.
  • Ensure your pump is protected from the elements i.e. rain, flooding and sub-zero temperatures.
  • Allow plenty of room around the pump so that it has adequate ventilation and can be properly inspected, maintained and repaired.
  • Be certain that the suction pipe does not have a smaller diameter than the pump’s suction inlet.
  • Minimise bends in the suction pipe and try to avoid sharp elbows wherever possible.

Alternatively, you could leave it to an experienced pump specialist such as Gibbons to carry out your installation. We also supply, maintain and repair pumps for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications along with a comprehensive swimming pool pump service.
