Latest ABB drives figures highlight record-breaking energy savings

Statistics released from ABB have demonstrated the massive energy savings achievable when using their variable-speed drives in electric motor-driven applications. During 2014, the installed base of ABB drives saved 445 TWh (terawatt-hours) of energy – that’s around 3% of the world’s electricity generation, or the output of 44 nuclear power stations.

2014 was the 23rd consecutive year that energy saved by ABB’s drives installed base increased, while the figure of 445 TWh represented a massive ten-fold rise over the last 15 years.

Not only do variable-speed drives offer users energy savings of up to 60%, they also reduce wear and tear on motor-driven machines which results in lower maintenance costs.

The return on investment from using a variable-speed drive can be achieved in as little as six months, so if you’re interested in reducing the cost of your motor-driven applications then get in touch with Gibbons.
