What is an ABB HVAC drive?

ABB’s ACH550 is a low-voltage AC variable-speed drive designed especially for the unique demands of electric motor-driven processes in the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) industry.

The ACH550 is rated from 0.75 kW to 355 kW and caters for specific HVAC sector requirements such as harmonics and EMC standards. Built-in features to suit HVAC applications include cooling tower fans, supply and return fans, booster pumps and condensers.

This flexible drive can be flange-mounted to the side of an air duct or integrated with an air handling unit (AHU). The ACH550 is also optimised for building into cabinets, so no space is needed between the units whether they’re IP21 or IP54 rated.

By controlling the speed of pumps, fans and motors in air handling units (AHUs), users can make occupied spaces more comfortable and healthy while improving energy efficiency and extending equipment life.
