Energy efficiency could save the UK hotel industry £38 million

A report from SaveMoneyCutCarbon, in conjunction with The Hotel Collection, reveals that Britain’s hotel sector could make huge savings by introducing energy-efficiency measures in just half of rooms.

The study found that if 50% of the UK’s 600,000 hotel rooms implemented energy-saving solutions then the industry could cut significantly lower carbon emissions while reducing its costs by £38 million.

Along with lighting and hot water, 80% of that figure is made up of potential savings on heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) costs. By adding a variable-speed drive to a commercial HVAC system, savings of up to 60% are achievable, with return on investment within less than 12 months in many cases.

Gibbons supplies products and life-cycle services for HVAC systems, including; fans, air handling units (AHUs), chillers, pumps, electric motors, variable-speed drives and filtration.
