London businesses spend £4 billion a year on energy

Businesses in London spend £4 billion every year on gas and electricity, having seen energy prices double over the last decade according to a report from the Association for the Conservation of Energy (ACE).

The Energy Efficiency in London study claimed that high energy bills are having a significant impact on profits for businesses in the capital as they struggle to remain competitive.

The report said that a major reason for such high energy outgoings of London companies is that most buildings in the city are “old and poorly insulated,” with 73 per cent built before standards were improved in the early 1990s and just a third achieving an energy performance rating of C or higher.

As well as making improvements to insulation, investing in the installation and upgrade of energy-efficient heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment can make a considerable difference to the bottom line of industrial and commercial businesses. Efficient and reliable HVAC systems enable operation and maintenance costs to be reduced, while maximising equipment life.

Gibbons HVAC Services fit and upgrade air handling systems in commercial premises such as offices, warehouses and factories as well as delivering comprehensive service and maintenance packages. We have worked extensively across the capital, delivering projects for world-famous sports stadia, leading art centres and Canary Wharf multinationals to name a few.
