Gibbons offering F-gas-certified HVAC engineering

We’re proud to announce that Gibbons Engineering Group now provides heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) services with F-gas approval. Here we’ll explain a bit about F-gases and what our new accreditation means for our clients.

What are F-gases?

Fluorinated gases (F-gases) are man-made gases, with the most common being hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) which are compounds containing hydrogen, fluorine and carbon.

What are F-gases used for?

The high energy efficiency of F-gases means they are used in a variety of applications such as electronics, commercial and industrial refrigeration, air-conditioning and cosmetics.

Are F-gases dangerous?

F-gases have low levels of toxicity and flammability and are therefore safe for users and the public. Most F-gases have a relatively high global warming potential (GWP) and, if released, they may remain in the atmosphere for decades.

What is F-gas certification?

Installation, maintenance and servicing of stationary equipment containing F-gas refrigerants can only be carried out by a qualified person. In order to be F-gas accredited, an engineer must complete a training course and achieve a qualification with either City and Guilds or the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), with certificates lasting three years.

Our position as an F-gas-certified company (certification number FGAS2001651) is proof of our competency, diligence and expertise and allows us to offer a complete package of HVAC services in the industrial and commercial sectors.
