EU energy efficiency plans to see usage fall 30% by 2030

Ambitious plans from the European Commission aim to see energy consumption fall by almost a third within 15 years.

The proposal forms part of a new EC package which it says will help it to meet carbon reduction commitments as part of the Paris agreement.

The initiative will see new initiatives for innovative design and should “reduce our dependency on energy imports, create jobs and cut more emissions” according to EU climate commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete.

Here at Gibbons Engineering Group, we have extensive experience helping clients across multiple sectors to reduce their energy consumption. As a supplier of high-efficiency IE3 and IE4 electric motors, ABB variable-speed drives, pumps and HVAC systems, along with comprehensive lifecycle services, we’re your go-to provider for a complete energy-saving package.

Electric motor-powered processes account for around 60 per cent of industrial energy consumption and therefore represent a huge opportunity for operators to make significant savings by upgrading equipment and investing in the latest technology.
