Gibbons helping to fuel the whisky boom

Sales of Scotch whisky are thriving, as global demand for the spirit continues to rise despite fears from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon that the UK’s vote to leave the EU would harm exports.

Seven new Scotch whisky distilleries are set to open during 2017 in order to meet demand for the product, which sees 34 bottles exported every second, according to a report in the Daily Express (29 January 2017).

With annual whisky exports worth £4 billion to the UK economy, it’s essential for distilleries to protect their equipment and ensure production continues apace.

Gibbons Engineering Group has vast experience helping distilleries to maximise the efficiency of their processes, working across the UK for some of the biggest names in the Scotch whisky industry.

Our industry knowledge enables us to analyse electric motor-driven applications and identify areas where energy efficiency and productivity may be improved - with the addition of ABB variable-speed drives in many cases.

We’ve also recently launched a range of waterproof stainless steel electric motors specifically designed for use in the food and beverage industry. These motors have no rating plate or cooling fins and can withstand high-pressure water jets used during routine equipment washdowns.

Our stainless steel motors can also be ordered with waterproof ABB drives as a packaged solution for enhanced energy efficiency and process control.
