Latest EU MEPS phase takes effect: What next for you and your electric motors?

The turn of the New Year brought with it the latest stage of the EU MEPS (European Minimum Energy Performance Standards) electric motor efficiency legislation – but what do these changes mean for electric motor suppliers and users?

The mandatory Energy-using Products (EuP) directive states that, as of 1 January 2017, 0.75-375 kW motors sold in the EU must be rated at IE3 efficiency - or IE2 if connected to a variable-speed drive.

The latest EU MEPS phase is particularly relevant to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), who must be certain their supplier can provide IE3 motors and/or variable-speed drives to ensure continued compliance.

Here at Gibbons Engineering Group, we not only supply high-efficiency IE3 motors, we’re also an authorised value provider for ABB drives, meaning we’re the ideal provider for OEMs and machine builders looking to satisfy the latest legislation.

To discuss your electric motor requirements and the benefits of ABB drives, call Gibbons on 01621 868138 or email info@gibbonsgroup.co.ukfor expert assistance.
