How maltsters can help satisfy record demand for single malt Scotch whisky

Exports of single malt Scotch whisky exceeded £1 billion for the first time in 2016, accounting for 93 per cent of total production.

The renewed demand for the spirit – following a downturn in 2014 and 2015 resulting from key markets experiencing economic difficulties – means maltsters are under even greater pressure to maintain production.

Here at Gibbons Engineering Group, we have for many years been providing equipment and services to malt houses in England and Scotland to help them maximise the efficiency of their processes.

Our expertise enables us to assess electric motor-driven applications and identify areas where energy efficiency and productivity improvements may be made. This can be via upgrading existing equipment or introducing new solutions to the process.

Alongside our established offering of ABB variable-speed drives, pumps and gearboxes, we’ve recently introduced a range of waterproof stainless steel electric motors specifically designed for use in the food and beverage industry.

These IP69K motors are dust tight and have no rating plate or cooling fins, meaning they can withstand high-pressure water jets used during essential equipment washdowns.

For more information on our products and services for malt houses, distilleries and other operations in the food and beverage industry, call us on 01621 868138 or email info@gibbonsgroup.co.uk
