Now’s the time for confident UK SMEs to invest

The majority of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK are positive about their prospects for the year, with 51 per cent expecting growth in 2017. That's according to the Close Brothers Business Barometer, a quarterly survey of over 900 British SME owners and senior managers within a range of sectors and regions.

In the EU, an SME is classed as a company with fewer than 250 employees and a turnover of £50 million or under. There were more than 5.4 million SMEs in the UK in 2016 – over 99 per cent of all businesses.

With only one in ten of those surveyed expecting business to contract this year, this could be an ideal time to invest in energy-efficient equipment and maximise productivity.

Here at Gibbons Engineering Group, we understand that, despite their best intentions, smaller companies may not have the personnel to dedicate to energy efficiency and will only carry out upgrades when existing systems fail.

Gibbons has a team of experts on hand to visit your site and assess electric motor-driven processes such as fans, conveyors and pumps in order to identify areas where efficiency may be improved by upgrading equipment.

With an extensive stock of products for commercial and industrial applications including IE3 and IE4 electric motors, ABB variable-speed drives and air-handling equipment, we’re able to supply, install and commission equipment across the UK while providing ongoing technical support.
