Virgin Pulse Global Challenge – week two update

Seven members of the Gibbons team are currently undertaking the three-month Virgin Pulse Global Challenge. This competition tasks the seven with wearing a pedometer all day, every day, in order to rack up the maximum number of steps for their team. The ‘Funky Gibbons’ team is up against seven fellow ABB authorised value providers, and it’s hoped the healthy competition will encourage us all to get more active.

Two weeks have now passed, so let’s take a look at how the leaderboard has been affected:

The bad news is, Funky Gibbons are still in 6th place. However, after racking up 142 miles between us in the first week, the last seven days has seen us add 264 miles after a big push by the whole team.

This was helped by the first Mini Challenge last weekend, which required the team to walk, jog or run 100,000 steps between us on Saturday 16th September. Equating to 14,286 steps each, for some of the Funky Gibbons team this meant a serious improvement would be required.

As it turned out, the team came through in style, with a raft of personal bests set and an aggregate total of 118,554 steps! Special mention must go to Contracts Director Barry Horsfall, who got us a third of the way to our target on his own with a staggering 33,761 steps.

With the teams above us well within touching distance, surely it’s only a matter of time before we climb the standings?

As an authorised value provider, Gibbons is exclusively approved to supply, install and service ABB drives while offering training and technical expertise. Find out more by calling 01621 868 138 or email
