Year of Engineering 2018

2018 marks the Year of Engineering, a government initiative which aims to raise the profile of engineering among seven to 16-year-olds and encourage young people to consider engineering as a career.

As a company that has helped countless young people in Essex qualify to become electrical and mechanical engineers, we're supporting the Year of Engineering 2018 with a number of events.

At the beginning of March, we marked National Apprenticeship Week by interviewing apprentices past and present from across all areas of our business, with the videos available to view here.

We’re in touch with a local primary school as we plan to host an open day for pupils to visit our workshops and see exactly what electrical and mechanical engineering’s all about. The children will also get the chance to try hands-on activities that replicate some off the challenges faced by engineers

As well as showcasing the variety, creativity and social value of modern engineering and the difference it can make to people’s lives, we want to challenge outdated perceptions of the profession as a ‘dirty hands’ job.

Look out for more on our involvement with the Year of Engineering 2018 over the coming months. Meanwhile, if you’d like information about our electrical and mechanical engineering apprenticeship programme, call us on 01621 868 138 or email
