Case Study: Soft Start Panel Installation & Commissioning2025-11-28T14:02:53+00:00

Project Description

Date: 21/11/2025
Customer: Anglian Water
Site: Tilbury

Overview
Our engineer completed the installation of a new control panel and associated cabling at the Anglian Water site in Tilbury. During commissioning, an unidentified AW control cable was discovered entering the start panel, with numbering that did not correspond to the starter section terminals.

Challenge
The multi-core cable could not be positively identified due to missing and inconsistent documentation. Harvey traced the cable through the marshalling section and onwards to PLC control panel CP500, but no drawings existed for this panel to verify its intended inputs or outputs.

Solution
Despite the lack of documentation, the soft start was successfully commissioned, and the panel was tested in hand mode with no issues. The rotation signal was temporarily disconnected until accurate drawings can be sourced to confirm the cable cores. At the site’s request, the inlet screw was left running in hand mode.

Outcome
The work area was left tidy, and all waste materials were removed, ensuring the site was left clean and safe.
