A Gibbons Engineer carried out a retrofit at Anglian Water’s Combs site, replacing an outdated ACS401 with a new ABB ACQ580 drive.
The process involved isolating, disconnecting, and removing the old drive before fitting the ACQ580 onto a plinth for separate path cooling. Cables were renewed where required, and a new keypad was installed on the control door.
Once installed, the drive was programmed, commissioned, and tested at low speed to confirm correct rotation and signal integrity. The system was then set to run in auto control, ensuring reliable and efficient pump operation.
Result: A modern, energy-efficient VSD upgrade to enhance performance and reliability for Anglian Water’s operations.
