It’s certainly been lights, camera, action at Gibbons lately. For the past three months, we’ve been busy producing a series of videos about our rewinds and repairs workshop. Back in 2017, we released a video titled ‘How to rewind an electric motor’ and over a six-year period, the video has had over 450,000 views on YouTube. The rewinds video has around 1.5k views per month on average which is entirely unexpected. The only problem with this is the comments we receive through our channel. Many viewers expected to see a step-by-step guide to rewinding electric motors and certainly made us aware of this. Other viewers left comments about how good and precise the work is, while some others felt they needed to offer some advice on what not to do during the rewinding process.
Well, let’s just say we took it all on board and decided that the best thing to do was to spend a day in the workshop with our rewinds and repairs expert, Kevin. We filmed the entire process of an electric motor rewind, from the very beginning where the old burnt-out coils are removed, right through to the delicate process of winding the coils and everything in between. Instead of filming and editing the entire day into one large hour-long movie, we decided that the best way to explain the winding process is to take it in small chunks, a piece at a time. The entire series will be available on the Gibbons Group YouTube channel from the 11th of September, with part one premiering on the 7th of August.
Hopefully, these videos will give a little insight into the workings of the busy workshop and what’s really involved when our engineers repair electric motors. Remember though, it’s not just electric motors we refurbish. Our experts often repair gearboxes, submersible pumps, swimming pool pumps, and fans for a multitude of industries. From full rewinds and repairs to oil changes and new bearings, there’s simply nothing that they can’t handle.
