At Gibbons, we know that a successful business starts with a strong, well-connected team. That’s why we recently dedicated a whole day to staff development, communication, and, just as importantly, some well-earned fun. The staff day was the second one we’ve held so far this year and is aimed at bringing the team at Gibbons together every quarter to improve our workplace practices.

The day began with an open Q&A session where all staff were invited to speak directly with the Gibbons Management team. It was a valuable opportunity to voice ideas, raise concerns, and explore ways we can improve and streamline the way we work. We firmly believe that giving our team a platform to be heard is essential in creating a workplace that works for everyone.

Following the Q&A, the team took part in a practical Manual Handling training session delivered by the experts at Vital Workplace Training Ltd. Keeping our team safe, informed, and confident in their roles is one of our top priorities, and sessions like this ensure we continue to meet the highest standards of workplace safety.

After a well-deserved lunch, the afternoon continued with a Toolbox Talk from an external expert at JR Consultants, covering key topics to support our engineers in their day-to-day responsibilities.

And because all work and no play isn’t the Gibbons way, we rounded off the day with a meal followed by bowling and mini golf at Hollywood Bowl in Colchester. It was a fantastic way to relax, strengthen team bonds, and celebrate the hard work everyone puts in. Congratulations to our senior electrical engineer, Harvey, who won not only the Mini Golf competition but also the bowling competition.

Events like this underline our commitment to building a supportive, collaborative working environment where communication flows both ways – from the top down and the bottom up. We’re proud of our team at Gibbons, and we’re excited to keep growing stronger together.
