Work experience

This week has seen two year 10 pupils from nearby Thurstable School spend time in our offices and workshops respectively, gaining invaluable work experience as they approach their final school year.

Harvey Coates spent the early part of the week working alongside our marketing team, assisting with research into potential clients before learning about Sage software and credit accounts with our finance department. Harvey says his interest in mathematics and IT means accounting feels like a natural career path for him.

Alfie Knight, meanwhile, has enjoyed a week in our contracts and motor rewinds workshops, experiencing a typical week in the life of an engineer. As well as learning about cable types and the uses of single and three-phase motors, Alfie has been disassembling motors, discovering how they work and how a rewind is carried out. Alfie says he enjoys taking machines apart and learning how they work, and that his experience this week will help him decide on a future career.

Meanwhile, Harvey and Alfie took part in a fascinating training session on electric motors from Chairman Martin Gibbons, alongside Carl and Rael of the marketing team.
